In accordance with the developments in the world, studies on aerospace and aerospace technologies are continuing in our country. Especially in the years when the Republic was first established in the field of aviation, important steps were taken in aircraft design and production in our country, but these efforts did not yield fruit. Although aircraft manufacturing started in the years with 1980, these works were limited to assembly operations only. It did not contribute to the development of national design skills.

Today, parts design and manufacturing are still carried out in this sector and serious progress is being made in this field. However, product-based design and development activities have not reached the desired level. Today, the sector still maintains its foreign dependency. In addition, the capacity of special test systems has not been sufficient at key points in the aviation sector.

The situation of our country in the field of space technologies is not good. In the field of remote technologies, a number of acquisitions have been made for military purposes and state control, starting from the 1980 years. Later, these services expanded into the private sector. At this point, TÜBİTAK initiatives attract attention with 2000 years. In this way, the private sector has started to invest in this field.

Space technologies capabilities in our country can be listed as follows:

  • Satellite design and production for imaging purposes
  • Operation of communication satellites
  • Use of data from space

One of the studies carried out in this field in our country today is the ability to launch satellite. Few countries in the world have this ability. The National Space Research Program was launched in 2005 in the field of aerospace technologies in our country. Within the framework of this program, organizations such as Ministry of National Defense, Undersecretariat for Defense Industries, Havelsan, Aselsan and TUBITAK and some universities are carrying out important studies.

With these developments, companies applying and maintaining the AS 9100 Aviation and Space Sector Quality System standard in our country request AS 9100 certificate by applying to certification bodies in order to increase their gains in this field.

If the certification bodies receiving this request start the audit work before the enterprise after signing the contract with the company and decide that the operation is carried out in accordance with the requirements of AS 9100 standard, the certificate is issued and delivered.

The validity period of the certificate is three years and supervision audits are required every year.
