Grounding systems are one of the most important elements in providing security in factories, production facilities, buildings and various structures. In those places where there is no grounding system, the safety of people is in danger and the electrical machines, tools and equipment used can be severely damaged. Therefore, it is necessary to make regular measurements of these systems both in terms of installation of grounding systems and ensuring safety. Depending on whether the building is a factory, production facility, building or located in the city or rural areas, Grounding measurement method .

Grounding systemsis based on the establishment of a conductive connection between the specified points of the machines, panels and electrical equipment and the earth electrode. The ground electrode is ground into the ground as a conductive part. In this way, an electrical connection with the earth is created. With the grounding process, a connection is established between the body and the ground against the insulation defects that may occur in the machines. In this case, a faulty current in the machine will be directed directly to the ground, preventing human damage. If one ground if not, faulty currents flow through the person touching this machine and can cause death events depending on the intensity of the current.

In earthing systems, leakage currents are safely directed to the ground and the electrical system is automatically switched off. If a proper grounding process is carried out, both human life and machinery are protected.

Earthing installations of the factories have to be made periodically at least once a year. If the machines are displaced frequently at the factories, periodic checks should be performed every six months. Another important point is that these control and inspection operations and measurements to be made must be done by authorized electrical engineers. In addition, the means for measuring ground resistance must be calibrated.

Inspection and measurement reports sought in the official inspections to be carried out by the Ministry of Labor are accepted only if issued by accredited test and inspection institutions or laboratories.

Soil resistivity is measured first in the grounding facilities in order to determine the electrical permeability of the soil. In general, these measurements are made by the Four-Probe Method, which allows the determination of resistance for various depths of soil.

Grounding facilities must be visually inspected and tested during assembly and installation phases before commissioning a factory. In addition to the global grounding system, the earth resistance must be calculated and systematically measured.

Measurement, control and inspections to be performed are specified in various legal regulations:

  • Worker's health and work safety Regulation
  • Regulation on Grounding in Electrical Installations
  • Electrical Internal Facilities Regulation
  • Regulation on High Current Plants

TÜRCERT certification body, as well as conformity assessment and certification studies, testing and inspection services also provides. If there is a need to get more information about the factory grounding periodic inspection or to have these inspections and controls done, TÜRCERT certification institution is ready to meet the needs of the enterprises with experienced managers and employees.
