Boilers are a compact tool for the heating and storage of water. It has a mechanical mechanism for storing water from different heat sources and for use when needed. They use steam boiler, solar collector, heat pump, hot water boiler or electric heater as heat source.

Serpentine is a rock-looking, dark green colored mineral obtained mostly in California, USA. When touched it creates an oily and waxy feeling. This mineral is very resistant to heat and cold, so serpentine molecules are utilized in the field of thermal insulation.

Coils with serpentine are produced as steel pipe or copper tube. In general, there are two types: one serpentine boiler and double serpentine boiler. Boilers are mainly used in restaurants, cafes, hotels, hospitals, construction sites and gyms. It is used in hot water, hot water, solar collector or steam boiler.

Double coil boilersis used to obtain hot water in systems with two heat sources. For example, boilers with solid, liquid and gas-fired boilers or boilers with solar energy and waste energy are used.

In both types, the internal surfaces of the boilers are in contact with water, are galvanized or made of stainless steel. In both types, the boilers were isolated with serpantene against heat losses. It is automatically managed with automatic control tools according to the place of use.

Single and double serpentine boilersAs a result of their working characteristics, they are tested under the maximum pressure of 1,5 by the manufacturer companies. Nevertheless, in order to prevent possible hazards during their use and to protect the safety of the employees and the security of the property in case of an accident, regular maintenance of the vehicles should be made.

The Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Occupational Health and Safety Law and Work Equipment also sets out the health and safety requirements that must be complied with in the use of all work tools and equipment used in the workplace.

It is a must to comply with these legal regulations issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in order to avoid potential risks and create a safe work environment. In the appendix of the Health and Safety Regulations for Use of Work Equipments (Annex 3), single and double coils are included in the pressure vessels and installations group. Periodic inspections and hydrostatic tests should be carried out at least once a year. During these tests, if there is no provision contrary to the standards, the 1,5 solid surplus of the operating pressure is applied.

The standards to be considered during periodic inspections of single and double coil boilers are as follows:

  • TS 2025 Steam boilers operation - General rules of inspection and maintenance
  • TS EN 13445-5 Pressure receptacles - Non-contact - Section 5: Inspection and testing

TÜRCERT certification body is also testing and inspection services also gives. TÜRCERT, with its experienced managers and employees, is ready to provide all necessary services to organizations in every sector if it is necessary to get more information about the periodic inspection of single and double serpentine boilers.
